Our Team

David Sherman is responsible for the strategic direction, vision, and oversight of the firm’s business. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School in 1982 and an MBA from Harvard University in 1986. David joined BES in 1986.

Mark leads Sherman Residential's operations and supports the company’s strategic plan. A CPA with a BS from the University of Illinois (1982) and an MBA from DePaul University, he also serves on National Multi-Housing Council committees. Mark joined BES in 1999.

Mark advises on business direction, including acquisitions, dispositions, and construction, and is involved in investor capital raising. He holds a BS in Finance from the University of Illinois (1982) and an MBA from DePaul University. Mark joined BES in 1993.

Theresa is responsible for the firm’s treasury, cash management, accounting, and financial reporting functions. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Purdue University and is a CPA. She joined BES in 2024.

Garrett oversees identifying, sourcing, underwriting, and negotiating new acquisitions. He earned a BS in Finance and Real Estate from Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business in 2009. Garrett is a licensed Illinois Real Estate Broker and joined BES in 2012.

Hilary oversees property management with 15+ years of multifamily experience. An Arizona State University graduate, she focuses on property performance, employee development, and income optimization, specializing in acquisitions, lease-ups, and stabilization. She joined BES in 2018.

Leanne oversees HR strategy, focusing on talent management, employee engagement, and aligning HR with company goals. A Michigan State University graduate, she joined BES in 2001.

Scott has overseen the acquisition of over 20,000 apartment units and various office and retail properties. A Southern Illinois University graduate, he joined BES in 1993.

Brian is responsible for shaping and executing Sherman Residential's investor relations strategy, serving as the primary interface with our investors. He holds a BS in Business Administration from Miami University and an MBA from Nova Southeastern University. Brian joined BES in 2025.

Maida has over 8 years of real estate experience, specializing in investor communication, document administration, and capital raising. She joined BES in 2022.

Mike oversees hardware and software systems across the national multifamily portfolio. He supports special projects, capital initiatives, and the acquisition and disposition process. Michael earned an A.S. in Electronics/Computers from Tampa College and joined BES in 1993.

Regional Construction Supervisor for Benj. E.Sherman & Sons, Inc. He is based in Dallas, TX. His primary focus is special projects, capital budget preparation and overseeing the day-to-day maintenance operations. David has been in the multi-family industry since 1989 and joined BES in 1994.

Marketing Brand Manager for Benj. E. Sherman & Sons, Inc. She holds a Bachelor of General Studies in Human Development from North Park University. She develops marketing strategy for the portfolio, works with each onsite team to ensure brand continuity, and executes a personalized marketing plan tailored to the unique aspects of each community. Kristine joined BES in 2019.
